“Poverty Tourists” — Cape Town, South Africa

Filmed on 2/20/19 | Aired 5/14/19

There’s an annoying trend called “poverty tourism” where white tourists will take bus tours through impoverished areas and act like it’s some sort of human safari, which was the working title for this piece until air. This township has been able to flip this trend on its head by turning a profit from these tours.

The collection of photos I got from this shoot are my favorites of all the shoots. The captured moments are fantastic and the light was couldn’t have been anymore perfect this day.

I used the Canon 6D Mark II with the stock 24-105 f/4.
